I’m very proud of myself today. You already know I’m going to tell you why.
First of all, I have been playing with the idea of adding in strength training. At first I didn’t want to because it’s not like I have all the time in the world. I enjoy the Peloton bike so much that, even though in the past I have loved strength training, I didn’t want to take time from riding to add strength.
One of my best ways to keep up with this type of thing is to set a VERY REALISTIC goal and stick to it no matter what. My Peloton goal is 20 minutes per day, period. I’ve more than exceeded that goal almost every single day since I started this! My strength goal? 10 minutes per day, 6 days per week. I’m going to alternate days, 3 lower focus and 3 upper focus. I don’t want to over complicate it so I’m not focusing on specific muscles just yet, this is just me tiptoeing into training again.
The workout included some deadlifts. Of course in something like this you’re going heavy relative to the amount of reps you’re expected to complete, and I used a 26lb kettlebell for those. I couldn’t help but feel a little sad at how heavy they felt considering my max deadlift less than two years ago was 205lb. Oh well.
I actually was looking for a 20 minute recovery ride, but I couldn’t help myself when I saw a 20 minute club bangers ride.
Now for the reason I’m so proud, OTHER than the fact that I met both goals for myself (and then added 5 minutes to my strength goal). I was up til 4:00 AM with a sick kiddo. He went to bed at the normal time, and it was a night for me to work late, so when he woke up at 11:30PM and didn’t go back to sleep until 3:30AM, I hadn’t gone to bed yet. I’m feeling pretty awful today and all I want to do is sleep, but thankfully he’s napping. My poor buddy.
Two more days until day 100!
